Self Help Aid

HealthfulChat has specified this area of the web site to peer support for those who have suffered from a stroke. The three main forms of communication here are the Stroke Chat Room, stroke forums, and the stroke social network.

HealthfulChat understands that although having a stroke can completely change your lifestyle, it does not have to hinder you from living. If you are the victim of a stroke, or several, and are here to seek out others who are also in stroke recovery, it means that you care about the rest of your life, and wish to enhance the lives of others as well. The stroke peer support chat room, stroke peer support forums and the stroke peer support social network are a great place to do just that.

In the United States alone, "Each year, about 795,000 people suffer a stroke. About 600,000 of these are first attacks, and 185,000 are recurrent attacks."1 The same website also states that although most strokes occur in people over the age of 65, high blood pressure is the leading cause of stroke, and this can occur in people who are not even legally allowed to drink in the United States.  "Among adults age 20 and older, the prevalence of stroke in 2005 was 6,500,000 (about 2,600,000 males and 3,900,000 females)." This leaves quite a bit of the population who has suffered from a stroke and needs support.

Perhaps you are one of the many who fears a stroke due to lifestyle and/or medical warnings. The doctor has told you that if you do not get your blood pressure down, you are in for possible serious illnesses, one being a stroke. We welcome you here to discuss stroke prevention with others who have been in your position, and do not want to see anyone else have a stroke.
